June (Ridley) Florez, 89, of De Soto died Sept. 16, 2024. Mrs. Florez was a graduate of Vashon High School in St. Louis. She was an avid reader and attended Buren Chapel A.M.E., where she was known as “Momma June.” Born June 14, 1935, she was the first child of the late Roscoe and Rosealee (McAllister) Ridley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years: James M. Florez.
She is survived by five children: Daryl Mensey, Cheryl (Aaron) Reddick, Keith (Mary) Mensey, Roscoe Florez and June (Tyrone) Ward; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother: Tommie (Lois) Roberts; two sisters-in-law: Joyce (Wade) Hill and Mavis (Kerry) White; a brother-in-law: Keith (Gail) Florez; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Gabrielle Kennedy. Burial is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
