Schuessler, Jon

Jon Roland Schuessler, 48, of Hillsboro, died Oct. 30, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Schuessler was an educator and was a member of the Board of Education for the Hillsboro R-3 School District. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1994 and earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering degree from the University of Missouri-Rolla, currently the Missouri University of Science and Technology, in 1998. He also founded the Missouri Volunteer Movement in 2016 to encourage political reform in Missouri. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Imperial and was a member of the choir, Men of Armor, fundraising committee and stewardship committee. He had a passion for theater, music, art, storytelling, reading, history, debate, education, the pursuit of truth and political reform. He was known to bring laughter to every conversation, joy into every room, and he could put people at ease. He will be remembered as a fierce friend.

Born April 20, 1976, in St. Louis, he was the son of Fern (Pflantz) Schuessler of Hillsboro and the late Thomas Schuessler.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters: Cheri (Raymond) Schauffler and Amanda Stegeman; a nephew: Eaen Stegeman; a niece: Elsa Stegeman; an uncle: Warren Pflantz; an aunt: Jan Schuessler; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Joshua Stegeman; grandparents: Roland and Hilda (Flamm) Pflantz, Vincent Christ and Oscar and Bernice (Zaiger) Schuessler; two uncles: David and Oscar Schuessler; and an aunt: Janet Schuessler.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in south St. Louis County. An additional visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 6550 Hwy. 21, in Imperial, 63052, officiated by the Rev. Charles Schultz. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. A graveside service in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart will follow the luncheon. Mr. Schuessler has requested that men wear hats to the graveside service. Hats will be provided if you don’t have one. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Imperial. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
