
John Paul McDaniel, 75, of Festus died Feb. 10, 2024, at his home after a long battle with lymphoma. Mr. McDaniel grew up in Bonne Terre and graduated from Melville Sr. High School in St Louis. He later graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1973. He married his wife, Janet, in 1970 and they spent more than 53 years together. Over the years, he had many careers including working for the State of Missouri, Division of Youth Services, The City of Bonne Terre as a police officer, North St. Francois County School District as an elementary art teacher and as a machine builder. In his free time, he enjoyed riding and racing motorcycles, rebuilding and flying his airplane and restoring and driving European sports cars. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and enjoyed watching games with his brothers, Fred and Phil. Born Jan. 11, 1949, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of the late Helen E. (Buscher) and James Austin McDaniel Sr.
He is survived by his wife: Janet (Klussman) McDaniel; a son: John Paul McDaniel II; a daughter-in-law: Amy (Glaze) McDaniel; two grandchildren: Max and Molly McDaniel, all of Festus; a brother: Fred McDaniel of Bonne Terre; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jim and Phil.
