John Paul Cernicek, 85, of Grapevine, Texas, died Nov. 26, 2024, at Grapevine Medical Lodge. Mr. Cernicek served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Born Nov. 15, 1939, in Hillsboro, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Venus (nee Reece) Cernicek.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Mayra (Pinto) Cernicek of Grapevine, Texas; five children: Susan (Doyle) Smith of Henrietta, Texas, Cindy (Allen) Evans of Fresno, Calif., Luci M. Cernicek of Grapevine, Texas, David P. Cernicek of Cape Coral, Fla., and John P. (Junior) Cernicek of Grapevine, Texas; a sibling: Mona F. (Kevin) Gum of Troy, Ill.; a brother-in-law: Jerry Pennock; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles and Joseph E. Cernicek; a sister: Lovevenna Pennock; and a nephew: Timothy Cernicek.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home, 523 S. Main St., in Grapevine, Texas. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 Wildwood Lane, in Grapevine, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home.
