John Howard Scaggs, 71, of De Soto died Feb. 23, 2025, at his home. Mr. Scaggs was a retired mechanic from the American Can Plant in Pevely. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Goldman Fire Protection District. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating and spending time outdoors. Born Aug. 20, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Juanita Gertrude (Jones) and Howard Dalton Scaggs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years: Debbie Fay (Govro) Scaggs.
He is survived by a daughter: Angie (Michael) Ritch of De Soto; a brother: Matthew Clarence Scaggs; a niece: Amanda Scaggs; and a nephew: John Scaggs.
A memorial visitation was held March 1 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
