Marler, John

John F. Marler, 60, of Cedar Hill died Jan. 27, 2026. Mr. Marler was a longtime member of the Mississippi River Eagles, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4341 in Crystal City and served two terms from 2004 to 2008 on the Missouri Propane Gas Association Board as District 4 director. He was a truck driver by trade. In his free time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed spending time on the golf course. He bowled for several years (all with his best friend, the late Donald Simms) for the ABC/USBC Bowling Association and was proud to have achieved two perfect 300 games. Born Feb. 8, 1965, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late Floyd R. and Patricia L. (Flaherty) Marler.

He is survived by his wife: Heather Lynn (Tobey) Marler; a child: John F. Marler II of Cedar Hill; a stepchild: Alexis (Ethan Door) Krafczik of Villa Ridge; a grandchild: Adeline Marler; eight siblings: Floyd (Brenda) Marler Jr. of Pevely, Diane (George) Chance of Festus, Sheila (the late Larry) Meyer of Stockton, Calif., Sandy (Walter) Brown of Buna, Texas, Rick (Brenda) Marler of De Soto, Pam (Kevin) Wilfong of Festus, Tim (Debbie) Marler of Crystal City and Jeff Marler of Pevely; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Laura (Ronnie) Sipp; a brother: Michael A. Marler; and a sister: Vivian (Donald) Pope.

A celebration of life will be held from noon until a small service at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Gospel Light Free Will Baptist Church, 7422 Stormy Lane, in Bonne Terre, 63628. Flowers and monetary donations should be made to the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fieser Funeral Home in Fenton.
