
John Delmar Boyer, 93, of Festus died May 31, 2024, in St. Louis. Mr. Boyer was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he earned a National Defense medal and a Good Conduct medal. He retired from PPG as a glass cutter. He was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Among his accomplishments are traveling to every U.S. state except Alaska. Born Aug. 4, 1930, in Blackwell, he was the son of the late Anastasia (Bequette) and Wallace Boyer.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Ellen Boyer.
He is survived by his son: Gary T. (Mary) Boyer of Barnhart; two daughters: Margaret M. (Jim) Dittmann of Festus and Carla J. (Gary) Halsey of Festus; eight grandchildren; a good friend: Bernice Bauman of Ste. Genevieve; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends.
He also was preceded by a daughter: Paula Y. (Charles) Gallamore; five brothers: Eli (Martha) Boyer, Floyd (Eta) Boyer, Bernard Boyer, James (Marjorie) Boyer and Lawrence Boyer; and five sisters: Virgil (Raymond) Boyer, Ethel (Charles) Redecker, Loretta (John) Kreitler, Virginia Hirsch and Oneida Boyer.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. A funeral service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Marys Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Michael Boehm. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
