Ottomeyer, John

John David "JD" "Dave" Ottomeyer, 92, of Hillsboro died Feb. 28, 2025, in St. Louis. Mr. Ottomeyer worked as a Local 513 operating engineer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed going fishing, camping, hunting and being with his family. Born April 17, 1932, in Ware, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Gladys Marie (Couch) Ottomeyer.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Marie Edith Ottomeyer.

He is survived by two sons: Daniel L. (Darlene Belote) Ottomeyer of Affton and Darrel J. (Jill) Ottomeyer of Oakville; a daughter: Linda M. (John) Zingsheim of Imperial; eight grandchildren: Jacqui R. Kaplan, Jennifer R. Hall, Adam B. Zingsheim, Daniel V. Ottomeyer, Dr. Megan E. Ottomeyer, Matthew D. Ottomeyer, Nathan J. Ottomeyer and Hailey M. Ottomeyer; six great-grandchildren: Edith P. Kaplan, Marjorie F. Kaplan, Ethan B. Zingsheim, Isabella A. Zingsheim, Miriam E. Hall and Hugo D. Hall; and many other family members and friends.

He also was preceded in death by two sons: John D. Ottomeyer Jr. and Dennis A. Ottomeyer; three brothers: Harold Ottomeyer, Claud Ottomeyer and Glenn Ottomeyer; and a sister: Hazel Ottomeyer.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Cemetery, 1700 Rock Road, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
