Jerry Richard Peterson, 74, of Cedar Hill died June 21, 2026, in St. Louis. Mr. Peterson built a successful career as an automotive technician after graduating from South County Technical High School. He took pride in his work and was respected for his knowledge, dedication and strong work ethic. Known for his warm personality, he could strike up a conversation with others and quickly turn acquaintances into friends. He was passionate about sports and could often be found cheering on the Mizzou Tigers and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also dedicated many seasons to coaching girls' softball. In his spare time, he enjoyed perfecting his lawn and staying current on political events. Most of all, he loved spending time with friends and his family. He will be remembered for his kindness and sense of humor and for embracing life with enthusiasm and a generous spirit. Born July 26, 1951, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late J.W. Peterson.
He is survived by his wife: Ann (Bryant) Peterson; two children: Lisa (Frank) LaManna and Mike (Jennifer) Peterson; four grandchildren: Cheyenne, Estin, Ivy, and Camille; his pet: Lucy; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
