Fishback, Jean

Jean A. Fishback, 88, of Hillsboro died Dec. 8, 2024. Mrs. Fishback was a retired restaurant manager for several country clubs in the Jefferson County area. Born Jan. 22, 1936, in Bolivar, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Pauline Knight and Gene Savage.

She was preceded in death by three husbands: James O. Ringo, Thomas Donnell and Verlin Fishback.

She is survived by six children: Paula Peatross of Jonesburg, James (JoAnn) Ringo of Potosi, Theresa (Vincent) Coleman of Festus, Dale (Cathy) Ringo of Dittmer, Bruce Spahn of Hillsboro and Carolyn (Edward) Fishback of Hillsboro; 15 grandchildren: Jean (David) Pape, Christopher Peatross, Fay Peatross, Wesley (Lagaila) Peatross, Sarah (Brian) Jolly, Meghan (Tom) Hernandez, Dylan Ringo, Colin Coleman, Caleb Coleman, Tanalyn (Barath) Iyer, Nathan (Edith) Voyles, Kathren (Kevin) Smith, Dannielle, (Brian) Kneip, Edie Grubbs and Ian Fishback; 28 great-grandchildren: Hanna, Emmy, Alex, Victoria, Walker, Gabby, Jesse, Jenna, Taylor, Hunter, Leah, Wyatt, William, Madeleine, Haley, Garrett, Aidan, Enzo, Bowie, River, Marshall, Zachria, Samantha, Cameron, Robbi, Echo, Liberty and Bria; and seven great-great grandchildren: Ariel, Bexley, Mavrick, James, Memphis, Elliott and Everly.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Debbie Spahn; a son-in-law: William Peatross; a grandson: Matthew Ringo; and a great-granddaughter: Jordan Jolly.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 703 3rd St., in Hillsboro, officiated by Father Stephen En Suan Lian. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bolivar, Tenn. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
