
James Richard Carrow, 82, of Festus, died Sept. 25, 2025, at Scenic Nursing and Rehab Center in Herculaneum. Mr. Carrow was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired truck driver for Union Pacific/Missouri Pacific Railroad, a member of Teamsters Local 600 and a past treasurer and member of Meramec Elks Lodge 2372. He was an avid deer hunter and loved fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing cards. He will be remembered for taking pride in his family and the legacy he left. Born July 12, 1943, in East St. Louis, Ill., he was the son of the late Juanita Leva (Cox) and James Elmer Carrow.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Katherine (Riebold) Carrow.
He is survived by a son: James R. (Sandy) Carrow of Festus; two daughters: Marlo K. (Tim) Stanger of Festus and Malinda K. (John) Milfelt of Perryville; a brother: Gary D. Carrow of Arkansas; three sisters: Dolores Shannon of North Carolina, Debbie Kay (Robert) Zimmer of St. Louis and Rosilee (John) Duncan of Fulton; six grandchildren: Ronnie (Cieara) Ruess, Kayla (Andrew) Propst, James (Tracey) Carrow, Tiffany Stanger, Dustin (Taleah) Lucas and Todd (Abbie) Lucas; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter: Mary K. Erickson; and a sister: Lillian C. Crane.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until funeral services at noon Friday, Oct.3, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Patrick Adam of Twin City Church of Christ in Festus. Burial with full military honors will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City.
