Timothy M. Huntley, 55, of Imperial has been accused of stealing auto parts and scrap metal from high-performance auto shop in Imperial. He allegedly sold some of the stolen items to a Festus recycling company, according to court documents.
Huntley has been charged with four counts of felony stealing. He was arrested April 29, and as of Monday, May 11, he was being held on a $100,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.
Huntley was allegedly seen in surveillance video at about 12:40 a.m. April 28 at Morley Performance, 4941 Sean Drive, in Imperial. He is suspected of stealing a radiator from a 2012 Ford F-250, three crankshafts, 10 rotors, two aluminum 314 LS cylinder heads and various scrap metal, according to a probable-cause statement filed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The stolen items were estimated to be worth $3,800, the report said.
Huntley also strapped an engine block to the back of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado that he was driving and drug the engine down the road, causing an estimated $117,000 damage to the road, according to the report.
A deputy recognized the pickup that Huntley was driving, and on April 29, the deputy located Huntley in the Silverado parked on the side of the road near Seckman and West Outer roads in Imperial. The deputy saw a radiator that matched the description of the one that was stolen in the pickup, and Huntley allegedly admitted to stealing from the auto shop, the report said.
Huntly also said he sold some of the stolen items at SA Recycling, 107 N. Ninth St., in Festus. The deputy took Huntley to the recycling company, where Huntley identified the items he sold, and the business provided the deputy with a receipt Huntley received at 4:10 p.m. April 28, the report said.
The probable-cause statement said Huntley is suspected of stealing from Morely Performance earlier this year, and he is a suspect in an investigation into two other stealing cases and a burglary case.
