cancel

The parade for the Hillsboro Homecoming Festival has been canceled. The Greater Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, the organizers of the event, announced the cancellation in a Facebook post on May 13, citing low participation.

“The Chamber is grateful for its partnership with the City and Police Department and for their continued support in helping make the Hillsboro Festival a success,” the Facebook post said. “A big part of that effort is promoting our local businesses and community groups. Unfortunately, this year we did not receive enough parade participation, to warrant putting on the parade and using those valuable community resources.”

The parade was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16.

They also said all other festival events are still scheduled to take place, including carnival rides, live music, a cornhole tournament and a classic car show sponsored by the Hillsboro Lions Club.

Festivities kick off Friday at 6 p.m.
