James Paul McAnally Jr., 55, of House Springs died Sept. 5, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. McAnally worked as an arborist and was the owner of Mac’s Tree Service. He was a member of Faith Community Church in Cedar Hill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, morel mushroom hunting and helping others. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his giving heart, big smile, contagious laughter and warm hugs. Born May 17, 1969, in Festus, he was the son of Patricia Marie (Blackford) Cromwell of Arkansas and the late James Paul McAnally Sr. He was the stepson of the late June (Pinson) McAnally.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter: Mariah McAnally of House Springs; three brothers: Mark (Dena) McAnally of Potosi, Steve McAnally of Potosi and Charlie McAnally of Bowling Green, Ohio; two stepsisters: Linda Hocker of De Soto and Cheryl (Avery) Wicker of Cadet; a stepbrother: Mike (Corie) Owens of Cadet; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a stepson: Austin Vines.
Mr. McAnally chose to be an organ and tissue donor and is saving two lives. Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until services at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Amvets Post 48, 1075 Amvets Drive, in De Soto 63020. Memorials may be made to the Amvets Post 48 or to Mid-American Transplant, 1110 Highlands Plaza Drive East, Suite 100, St. Louis, 63110. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
