James M. Pope, 88, of French Village died Sept. 28, 2025, at Southbrook Nursing Center in Farmington. Mr. Pope worked in sheet metal fabrication for Hussman Refrigeration. Born March 23, 1937, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Elsie (Frazier) and Frank Dressing.
He is survived by his fiancee: Beverly Poncet-Bryant of De Soto; two children: Tamala Reising of Wilmington, Del., and Jill Albrecht of Upper Marlboro, Md.; two half-siblings: Carol Ann Lewandowski of Kirkwood and Gary Dressing of Tom’s River, N.J.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Jean (Pyatt) Pope; a daughter: Kimberly Pendleton; a half-sister: Kathryn Elizabeth Deutschmann; and a granddaughter: Sarah.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, and Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main Street, in De Soto. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the funeral home, officiated by Troy Coke. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to an animal shelter of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
