James Alois Kohler, 82, of Festus died April 8, 2025, at his home. Mr. Kohler served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on his lawn and farm, reminiscing and spending time with his family and friends. Born Jan. 29, 1943, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Anna Marie (Durand) and Leonard Kohler. He was the stepson of the late Mildred Kohler.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Anna Marie Lewis-Kohler.
He is survived by three children: Jim (Marie) Kohler of Festus, Tim (Denise) Kohler of Bonne Terre and Kim (Randall) Bellville of Festus; five grandchildren: Veronica, Alexandria, Elizabeth, Kennedy and Christopher; and five great-grandchildren Nathan, Kinley, Sadie, Mason and Emersyn; and four siblings: Bill Kohler of Arnold, Charles (June) Kohler of Jackson, Ambrose (Earline) Kohler of Arnold and Thomas Kohler of Arnold.
He also was preceded in death by seven siblings: Leonard (Geraldine survives of St. Louis) Kohler, Raymond (Judy survives of Arnold) Kohler, Anna Marie (the late John) Diel, Richard Kohler, Alvera (the late Robert) Byrne, Joseph Kohler and infant brother George Kohler.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. until services at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Justin Metiva. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery in East Prairie. Memorials may be made to the Lafayette Jeffco workshop in Arnold. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
