McCoy, James

James Allen McCoy Sr., 93, of Festus died June 4, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. McCoy worked as a foreman at a truck dock. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and, most of all, he loved going to his grandchildren's sports games and functions. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City, a fourth-degree knight, a member of the Teamsters, St. Vincent De Paul Society, the Giving Something Back to the Community group and the Jefferson County Democratic Central Committee. Born March 8, 1932, in Herculaneum, he was the son of the late John and Eva McCoy.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley A. McCoy

He is survived by a daughter: Cindy Holst of Crystal City; seven grandchildren: Caleb (Andrea), Brendan, Mackenzie (Dwi), Dylan, Samuel (Maddie), Regan (Colton) and Ethan (significant other Taylor); six great-grandchildren: Bo, Tali, Rowan, Ezra, Kennedy and Liam; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He also was preceded in death by two sons: James A. McCoy Jr. and Keith McCoy; two brothers: Curtis McCoy and John McCoy; and three sisters: Dana Miller, Eileen Eckmann and Jeannette Revelle.

A memorial gathering is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a memorial Mass at noon Monday, June 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, 63019. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul of Sacred Heart. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
