Dostal, Jacqueline

Jacqueline Ann "Jackie" (Block) Dostal, 67, of Fenton died March 11, 2024. Mrs. Dostal was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of High Ridge and worked as a secretary at the church until her recent retirement. She had fond memories of growing up on the farm, playing with her siblings and cousins. She loved reminiscing for hours about throwing cow pies at each other, eating candies on Christmas, butchering days and walking down the field road. She married her husband on Oct. 11, 1980, after she dared to go on the first of many motorcycle rides. She gave birth to five children but loved many others as her own. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She didn't love to cook, but would happily prepare a meal for seven, even when four of the kids had already moved out, just in case someone might stop by.  She was well known for her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. A woman of faith and a lover of prayer, she was given the nickname “church lady.” She loved conversing with people over the phone and even enjoyed making small talk with strangers. She enjoyed taking pictures, gardening, eating sweet treats, watching a Hallmark movie ending, helping others and reading obituaries. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family, especially during the holidays. She will be remembered for being selfless, tough as nails, generous and having a gentle soul.  Born Sept. 23, 1956, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Bernadine (Mraz) and Alexius Block.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Bob E. Dostal.

She is survived by five children: Bryan (the late Rachel) Dostal of Fenton, Dale (Mandy) Dostal of Fenton, Bradley Dostal of Fenton, Stephanie (Will) Wanstreet of Barnhart and Stacey Dostal of Fenton; three grandchildren: Jaxson, Annie and Leanne; three siblings: Fern (John) Angelbeck of Fenton, Jerry (Anne Marie) Block of Fenton and Dave Block of Hillsboro; and many other family members and friends.
