Irmalee J. Mahn, 97, of De Soto died June 22, 2024. Mrs. Mahn attended Illinois Shurtleff Girls College in Alton and Washington University. She taught at Grandview School and retired as an elementary school teacher in the De Soto School District. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, P.E.O. Chapter IX and a local bridge club. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering with the Fletcher House. Born July 12, 1926, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Clara (Knauer) and Albert Ritterbusch.
She was preceded in death by her husband: William J. Mahn Sr.
She is survived by three children: Lee Mahn of De Soto, Mike (Ginny) Mahn of Battle Ground, Ind., and Mark (Alexandra) Mahn of De Soto; a daughter-in-law: Beverly Mahn; eight grandchildren: Jake Hertenstein, Ross Hertenstein, Ben (Candice) Mahn, Jason (Lexie) Mahn, Nick (Emily) Mahn, Stephanie (Jim) Cook, Connor (Sydney) Mahn and Grant (Rylee Venturo) Mahn; and six great-grandchildren: Olivia, Anniston, Will, Ronan, Wren and Logan.
She also was preceded in death by a son: William J. Mahn Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon on Friday, July 5 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1004 Rock Road, in De Soto, 63020. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105, Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, Ark., 72202, or the De Soto Public School District Lunch Program, 610 Vineland School Road, De Soto, 63020.
