Iris Joan (Buchanan) Evans, 89, of Dittmer died Feb. 16, 2024. Mrs. Evans was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Cedar Hill. She loved to garden and travel with her husband, especially to spend winters with friends in Arizona. Children had a special place in her heart and she extended her warmth to the children in her life. She is remembered for her warm smile, gentle nature and sense of humor. Born Oct. 20, 1934, in Puxico, she was the daughter of the late Laura (Marshando) and Fred H. Buchanan.
She was preceded in death by her husband: James “Perry” Evans.
She also was preceded in death by a brother: Alan Buchanan.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon Wednesday, Feb. 21, at First Baptist Church, 8265 Local Hillsboro Road, in Cedar Hill. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church VBS Fund or Food Pantry Fund, P.O. Box 169, Cedar Hill, 63016. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
