Homer Lee Becker, 78, formerly of Arnold, died Oct. 28, 2024, at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre. Mr. Becker was a 1964 graduate of Ross High School. He held various jobs in manufacturing and shipping and receiving. He also had his own lawn-mowing business. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and was employed as a marshal at his favorite golf course. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He and his wife, Sue, were members of First Baptist Church of Arnold for more than 50 years. He served as secretary in his Sunday School class, often checking on the welfare of each member. He was a member of the Senior Banquet Serving Team. As a greeter and usher, he was known to make everyone feel welcome. He especially enjoyed serving on the 15th Street Baptist Church Ministry, bringing food and clothes to those in need. Born July 15, 1946, in rural New Madrid County, Mo, he was the son of the late Arthur and Evelyne (Malugen) Becker.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years: Sue (Hepler) Becker, whom he married on May 22, 1965, and who died a year prior to him on Oct. 28, 2023.
He is survived by a child: LaDonna (David) Pedersen of Litchfield, N.H.; three siblings: Helen Hearn of Myrtle, Miss., Ray “Billy” (Joyce) Becker of Portageville and Anita Johnson of St. Augustine, Fla.; three grandchildren: Amanda Pedersen, Melissa Pedersen and Jared Pedersen of Litchfield, N.H.; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Senior Airman Edward Lee Becker; and two siblings: Bertha Portwood and Eugene Becker.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road, officiated by Pastor Kenny Qualls and Pastor Ray Fraiser.
