Hilda “Toot” Johnson, 88, of Dittmer died Sept. 30, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. Born June 15, 1936, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Susie Viola (Hull) and Fred Costello Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband: James Edwin Johnson.
She is survived by four children: Elaine Sue Johnson of Dittmer, Donna Lee Johnson of Dittmer, Nancy Jean (Harold Jr.) Wickerham of Dittmer and Pete Edwin (Sherry) Johnson of Hillsboro; two grandchildren: Travis James Johnson of Hillsboro and William Eugene “Bill” (Jennifer) Wickerham of Dittmer; a great-grandchild: Mason Johnson of Hillsboro; a sister-in-law: Barbara Johnson of De Soto; a nephew: Kelly Bradshaw of Dittmer; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by five siblings: Helen Bradshaw, Marilyn Dodson, Jim Costello, Fred Costello Jr. and William Costello; and two stepbrothers: Ralph Boyer and Eddie Boyer.
Visitation is scheduled from 10- 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A graveside service will follow in the Thebeau Cemetery in Fletcher. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
