Grubville woman sentenced to 10 years for drug trafficking

Devon Eslow

A Jefferson County judge has sentenced a Grubville woman to 10 years in prison after the woman admitted to planning to sell fentanyl in the county. She was arrested by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy because she was driving a car that had been reported stolen in Jasper County, court documents show.

Devon Barbara Eslow, 35, was sentenced on Oct. 28 after pleading guilty to second-degree drug trafficking. However, she may be eligible for early release if she successfully completes a 120-day treatment program, according to court records.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay Whalen prosecuted the case.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, a deputy on Feb. 17 saw a 2018 GMC Sierra, which had been reported stolen, parked at the BP gas station, 10054 Hwy. Y, in Dittmer. After arresting Eslow, the deputy allegedly found a bag with two orange pills and a bag with a white substance in her pocket.

Eslow allegedly told the deputy the white substance was fentanyl, and she was going to sell it to someone at the gas station, the report said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the substances, and the powder tested positive as fentanyl and the pills tested positive as alprazolam, a schedule IV controlled substance, according to the report.

Eslow has previously been convicted of a drug charge. In July 2019, she was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance in Howell County, court records show.
