pedestrian struck

A 30-year-old High Ridge woman died Nov. 16 after being struck by a vehicle east of Upper Byrnes Mill Road in Byrnes Mill, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s office identified the woman as Alyssa Kalbach. The Highway Patrol no longer identifies accident victims or drivers.

The Highway Patrol reported the pedestrian was struck at 6:58 a.m. by an unknown vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:11 a.m. by North Jefferson County Ambulance staff. The Missouri Highway Patrol posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that it was asking the public for help in identifying the driver of what was believed to be a Chevrolet SUV who fled the scene.

“The driver turned himself in (that night),” Highway Patrol spokesperson Sgt. Dallas Thompson said this afternoon, Nov. 17.

He said a man from Dupo, Ill., turned himself in there and is now cooperating with the investigation.

“He’s been released pending an investigation,” he said. “No charges have been filed (at this time).”
