
Hector Barragan, 93, of Hillsboro, formerly of Chesterfield, died Aug. 16, 2025, at his home. Mr. Barragan was a medical doctor who specialized in general surgery. Born Feb. 11, 1932, in Guadalajara, Mexico, he was the son of the late Efrain and Maria (Duran) Barragan.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Saundra (Hopkins) Barragan.
He is survived by four children: Alana (Michael) Barragan-Scott of Columbia, Kim Stewart of Hillsboro, Angelique Thompson of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Victoria (Jeff) Lawson of Dardenne Prairie; 12 grandchildren: Drew Scott, Mason Scott, SlaoneScott, Nolan Stewart, Lily (Brenden) Dowling, Andria Barragan, Brandon (Veronica) Demello, Dalton Thompson, Aidan (Keeli) Parker, Kayle Thompson, Alora Thompson and Lauren Lawson; two great-grandchildren: Blake Dowling and Tariacuri Parker; and two siblings: Reynalda Mota and Othelo Barragan.
He also was preceded in death by a son: Stuart Barragan; a son-in-law: Victor Thompson; and seven siblings: Aurora Barragan, Otilia Moto, Elba Moto, Berta Lujan, Erendira Tabouda, Beatriz Bautista and an infant brother.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Vincent Nyma. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Ballwin. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
