Gwendolyn Colleen (Crites) Taylor, 93, of Cedar Hill died Feb. 1, 2025. Mrs. Taylor was known for her devotion to her faith and family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cedar Hill and was dedicated to her church community. She was a longtime volunteer at Feed My People and offered a helping hand whenever needed. As a business owner, she was known for her determination and commitment. She will be remembered for her compassion and kindness. Born Aug.14, 1931, in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late Robert Jackson and Julia Anna (Tinsley) Crites.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Morris C. Taylor, whom she married on Aug. 30, 1947.
She is survived by four children: Joseph (the late Janice) Taylor, Norma (James) Weible, Robert “Paul” (Kathy) Taylor and Michael (Linda) Taylor; 13 grandchildren: Michelle Green, David (Cindy) Taylor, Monique Crawford, Matthew (Angela) Taylor, Melanie Lloyd, Emily Pedecone, Emily (Grady) Renfrow, Jerry (Veronica) Taylor, Julie (the late Randy) Hinsen, Jaime (Jeff) Campbell, Christopher (Molly) Taylor, Katie (John) Parai and Anna Taylor; 23 great-grandchildren: Dustin, Sara, Gianna, Brendan, Mason, Adrienne, Andrew, Ryan, Conan, Heidi, Wesley, Vivian, Daniel, Angelica, Aaron, Brittany, Nicholas, Kendra, Asher, Ian, Elliott, Willow and Rose; three great-great-grandchildren: Tyler, Cayden and Alayna; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a child: Gerald Taylor; a grandchild: Jordan (Kandah) Taylor; and two siblings: Charles Crites and Winifred Burrow.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at First Baptist Church of Cedar Hill, 8265 Local Hillsboro Road. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill.
