
Gwendalyn (Triplett) Newman, 81, of St. Louis died Sept. 24, 2025. Mrs. Newman was a 1963 Lindbergh High School graduate. She enjoyed dancing, entertaining and spending time with family. Born Feb. 21, 1944, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Enola (Gough) Triplett.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Alan Newman.
She is survived by six children: David Thornhill, Elizabeth Thornhill, Melinda (Brian) Stewart, Kevin Thornhill, Melanie Stahlman and Scott Newman; two sisters-in-law: Vicki Triplett and June Triplett; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law: Stacey Thornhill and Gwen Thornhill; and three siblings: Loyd Triplett, Clarye Triplett and Naomi Triplett.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy 30, in Cedar Hill. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the mortuary. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill.
