Genevieve Laura (Salomon) Kreyling, 77, of Arnold died Sept. 9, 2026, in St. Louis. A lifelong educator, Mrs. Kreyling spent decades shaping young minds from preschool through sixth grade. She loved creating masterpieces and traveled the country sharing her art through woodburning, building a vibrant community of fellow artists and friends. She was passionate about preserving local heritage alongside her husband through the Kimmswick Historical Society. She met her husband at a Carondelet youth group function, where she caught his eye. Three years later, they married on August 30, 1969, at Carondelet Church in St. Louis, beginning a 57-year partnership of faith, devotion and adventure. Together, they explored all 50 states and seven countries and spent the last 25 winters soaking up the warm coastal breezes and friendships in Port Aransas, Texas. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, celebrating each milestone and accomplishment. She will be remembered for her warmth, humor and generous spirit. Born Dec. 14, 1948, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Elsa (Hentchel) and Harry Salomon Sr.
She is survived by her husband: Tom Kreyling; three children: Jim (Susan) Kreyling, Laurie (Matt) Hollenberg and Vicki (Jaeson) Gildon; 11 grandchildren: Alex (Nicole) and David Hollenberg, Scott, Makayla, Lucy, Katelyn and Kiera Gildon, Brendan, Andrew and Courtney Kreyling and Abbie Jost; four brothers and their spouses who she saw as sisters: Skip (Colleen) Salomon, Jim (Debbie) Salomon, Dan (Mary) Salomon and Greg (Sue) Salomon; a sister-in-law: Thelma Tosiani; countless nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents-in-law: Walter and Kate (Kitty) Kreyling; a sister-in-law: Joan Salomon; her lifelong best friend: Sharon Norris; and many other friends and extended family members.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. A funeral service is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
