Gary Lynn Baumer, 66, of Havelock, N.C., died March 28, 2024, at his home. Mr. Baumer was a graduate of Eureka High School. He pursued his passion for aviation and education, graduating from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. A CWO4, he dedicated 23 years of his life to the U.S. Marine Corps. In his leisure time, he enjoyed being on the golf course and gardening. He spent many hours at the local food pantry helping his community which he loved. Gary and his wife lived in Havelock for more than half their lives. He loved Jesus, his family and his country. Born Oct. 11, 1957, in St. Louis County, he was the son of Emil Baumer and the late Opal Baumer.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 46 years: Carol Baumer; four daughters: Elizabeth Jean (Travis) Brogden, Mary Lynn Baumer, Grace Louise (Zachary) Messick and Katheryn Ruth Baumer; a brother: Larry Eugene Baumer; four grandchildren: Emma and Beau Brogden, Theo Baumer and Odin Messick; and many other family members and friends.
A funeral service was held April 5 at First Baptist Church in Havelock, N.C. Burial took place April 10 in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks.
