
Gary Lee Finney, 73, of Hillsboro died Nov. 7, 2024, at his home. Mr. Finney was a maintenance supervisor for Teamsters 688. Upon retirement, he founded Hillsboro Hot Rods. A car enthusiast from a young age, he enjoyed building, maintaining and showing collector cars and had a tool for everything and everyone. He loved spending time with his family. He is remembered as a loyal friend who was always available to lend a helping hand. Born Feb. 9, 1951, in Festus, he was the son of the late Thelma (Wilson) and Oland “Buck” Finney.
He is survived by his wife: Linda (Boyer) Finney; two sons: Michael (Megan) Finney of St. Louis and Matthew (Jean) Finney of Festus; five grandchildren: Lucy, Molly, Sean, Colin and Cooper; and a sister: Sharon (the late Darrell) Shy of Festus.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Father Mitch Doyen. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
