Dixon, Gary

Gary G. Dixon, 87, of Bonne Terre died May 24, 2024, at Baisch Nursing Home in De Soto. Mr. Dixon was a member of Eastside Church of God in Leadwood. He had a passion for sports, particularly baseball, especially for his favorite team the St. Louis Cardinals. Mr. Dixon was an accomplished high school athlete and broke numerous sports records. In his free time, he enjoyed reading Western books, bowling, cooking, and eating good food in the company of family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his generosity and kindness towards others; always wanting to lend a helping hand. Born Nov. 15, 1936, in Wortham, he was the son of the late Roy Edward and Lucy May (Radford) Dixon.

He is survived by two sons: Steve (Jane) Dixon and Kevin Dixon; five grandchildren: Shane (Maggie) Dixon, Tara (Nathan) Swafford, Lori (Jeff) White, Mari (Kyle) Porter and Alyssa (Eric) Yoder; seven, great-grandchildren: Aaden Swafford, Blake Swafford, Amelia Dixon, Gregory Dixon, Luciana Dixon, Charlotte Dixon and William Porter; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: James Dixon; and two brothers: Donald and Norman Dixon.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Saturday, June 1, at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home, 1116 N. Desloge Drive, in Desloge, officiated by Pastor Ryan Retzer. Inurnment will be in Mitchell Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home.
