Evelyn Marie “De De” Herrell, 92, of Imperial died July 30, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Herrell was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 60 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends. Born Aug. 26, 1931, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Glore) and Joseph Charles Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years: Ronald George Herrell.
She is survived by three daughters: Susan (Mark) Waterkotte of Barnhart, Barbara (Jim) Dostal of Imperial and Jan (Jim) Fischer of Crystal City; eight grandchildren: Matthew Waterkotte, Ryan (Lena) Waterkotte, Sarah Cook, Katie (Matthew) Krutzsch, Elizabeth (Bobby) Chrisco, Gabriel (Amy) Murr, Jonathan Murr and Nathan Herrell; 21 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Hannah, Chloe, Chase, Ryland, Leland, Charli, Neelah, Nash, Maggie, Claire, Cole, Jack, Drew, Charlotte, Lyla, Vivian, Drake, Andrew, Evelyn and Samantha; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a son: R. Stephen Herrell; a great-grandson: Ryan Herrell; two siblings: Betty (the late John) Skiadas and Joseph William (Beverly) Kennedy.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6020 Old Antonia Road, in Imperial, officiated by Fr. Anthony Yates. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Pius X Catholic High School. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
