Emory Lee Hicks, 85, of Festus died Sept. 22, 2024. Mr. Hicks served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 21 years before retiring. Upon coming home, he worked for and retired from J.H. Berra Construction. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. Born Nov. 21, 1938, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Ethel (Polson) and Emory L. Hicks.
He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 62 years: Ingeborg E. Hicks.
He is survived by three sons: Michael (Lisa) Hicks of Festus, Joe (Jan) Hicks of Festus and William Hicks of St. Louis; a brother: Al (Judy) Hicks of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law: Bob Stankey of St. Clair; and numerous other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a sister: Effie Stankey.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
