Bollinger, Emma Jane

Emma “Jane” Bollinger, 80, of Festus died Jan. 4, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Bollinger was a retired teacher of 29 years from the Festus Elementary School and a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church in Festus. She worked with Child Evangelism, was in the Iris Society and enjoyed crafting. Through the years, she was active in the church sometimes singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and leading Bible studies. Born March 22, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Mildred (Alkire) and Guy Swiger Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Gerald A. Bollinger; three daughters: Rebecca “Becky” (Matthew) Brown of Columbia, S.C., Rachel (Scott) Lee of Norman, Okla., and Carrie (Will) Nunn of Fenton; two sons: Joel (Beth) Bollinger of Festus and Guy (Sarah) Bollinger of Festus; 11 grandchildren: Jake, Luke, Morgan, Jackie, Patrick, Bobby Jo, Gabriel, Joel Jr., Ellie, Alex and Sophie; and three great-grandchildren: Maddie, Ben and Braxton.

She was preceded in death by a sister: Nedra Natalie (the late Max) Manker; and a brother: Guy Nester (the late Dorothy) Swiger.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Faith Baptist Church, 11835 Hwy. CC, in Festus, officiated by Pastor Matt Culbertson. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the American Bible Society at secure.americanbible.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
