Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Hilgert) Gunter, 74, of Imperial died Sept. 1, 2024, at her home, after a battle with cancer. Mrs. Gunter was a 1968 graduate of Cor Jesu Academy and still kept in touch with many CJA friends. She was a devoted member of St. John the Beloved Disciple parish in Imperial where she served with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, on the parish council, as lector and as a church volunteer at numerous parish activities. She was a long-standing member in the Arnold VFW Post 2593, Arnold Meramec Eagles 3678 and Fenton American Legion Post 400. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, positive attitude, grace, kindness and generosity. Born April 7, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Irene (Schlecht) and Sylvester W. Hilgert.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years: David A. Gunter.
She is survived by two daughters: Jennifer (Louie) Solnosky of Imperial and Amy (Kevin) Nestor of St. Louis; a sister: Paula (Mel) Poe of Allen, Texas; two grandchildren: Christina Solnosky (Nole Freeman) and Gavin Solnosky; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by her sister: Marilyn Hilgert Ball.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in south St. Louis County. A Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at St. John the Beloved Disciple Catholic Church, 4614 Blue Springs Road, in Imperial, 63052, officiated by the Rev. Anthony Yates. Burial will follow in St. John Parish Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John the Beloved Disciple Catholic Church for use by the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
