Eleanor “Ellie” (Katzenberger) Katz, 82, of Dittmer died July 25, 2025. Mrs. Katz loved dancing and was known for her vibrant personality and as the life of every party. She was the owner of Country Style Beauty Salon and offered a warm smile, a good laugh and a listening ear to her clients. She had a green thumb and loved gardening. She was involved with the Order of the Eastern Star, the Elks, the VFW and the Extension Club, as she loved staying social and making people feel welcomed. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, reliability and kindness. Born July 29, 1942, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nelda (Stevens) Katzenberger.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Steve Katz.
She is survived by three children: Kimberly (Brian) Eye, Karenda (Roderick “Rocky”) Mella and Kevin Lutz; four grandchildren: Matt Eye, Nathaniel Mella, Chloe Mella and Kaeden Mella; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a son: Kenneth Lutz; a brother: Edward Katzenberger Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Fairview Church Cemetery in Grubville. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
