Dietrich, Donnell

Donnell Frederick “Fred” Dietrich, 85, of De Soto died April 9, 2024, at Missouri Baptist Hospital St. Louis. Mr. Dietrich was a 1956 graduate of De Soto High School, a 1959 graduate of Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science and a 1960 graduate of Westminster College. He owned and operated Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto until his retirement in 2005. He served in the Missouri National Guard and was a life member of Amvets Post 48. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and De Soto Lodge 119 A.F. and A.M. He was a charter member of the De Soto Park Board, a volunteer with De Soto Little League, a founding member of Families of Calvary Cemetery, served on the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Parish Council and held many positions including chairman while serving on the Board of Directors of Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 15, 1938, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Donnell Byrd and Alice (Reinemer) Dietrich.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Rebekah Huffman Dietrich.

He is survived by three sons: Jake (Denise) Dietrich of Hillsboro, John (Lisa Bolzenius) Dietrich of Arnold, and Doug (Kirsten) Dietrich of University City; and four grandchildren: Rebekah, Henry, Alicen and George.

He also was preceded in death by his brother: Wm. Robert “Bob” (Sandy) Dietrich.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. today, April 12, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S Third St., in De Soto. Burial will take place in Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
