Donald M. Pope, 76, of Festus died Nov. 2, 2023, in Bonne Terre. Mr. Pope worked in assembly and painting for Chrysler. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-68, during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Mississippi River Eagles. Born Jan. 11, 1947, in Festus, he was the son of the late Laura (Ware) and Ruffus Pope.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Vivien E. Pope.
He is survived by a daughter: Donna (Paul) Roper of Bonne Terre; four brothers: John, Jim, Ronald and Randy Pope; two sisters: Rose and Cindy Pope; two granddaughters: Courtney (Danny) Thayer and Brittany Pope; two grandsons: Dalton (Janin) Pope and Allen Pope; two great-grandsons: Cooper and Zachary; and numerous family members and dear friends.
He also was preceded in death by a son: Donald Marvin Pope Jr.; and two grandchildren: Brandon and Christopher Yates.
Burial with military honors is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
