Green, Donald

Donald Keith Green, 94, of Pevely died Aug. 17, 2024, at his home. Mr. Green worked several jobs including one he enjoyed for 18 months as a civilian contractor on SAC Air Force Bases all around the country on B-52 Bombers and other aircraft. He worked at Designs for Tomorrow as a sheet and metal worker for more than 27 years until retirement. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Pevely for more than 50 years. He was a board member of the Fore Honor Foundation and president and coach of the Pevely Valley Khoury League. He bowled for more than 50 years and was on various leagues at Quonset Lanes, as well as the Fore Honor Foundation Bowling team for seven years until he was 94. He was an active member of the Jefferson County Three Rivers Chapter of the Missouri Archeology Society. He also was the oldest member of the Sons of Amvets Post 42. He will be remembered for being a kind, loving and generous man. He loved spending time with his family and was known as a friend to all. Born March 28, 1930, in Carrington, N.D., he was the son of the late Edna Bonderud and Howard Green.

He was preceded in death by his wives: Barbara Buckley of San Francisco, Calif., Patricia Castile of Fredericktown and Joyce Rau of St. Louis.

He is survived by his children: Richard (Kittie) Green of Pevely, Donald (Vicky) Guthrey of Pull-Up, Wash., Gabrielle Colleen (Dennis) Crocker of Pevely, Andrea Politte of Pevely, James (Tish) Green of Hematite, Julie Russell of Festus, Janene Graves of De Soto; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 57 in total. 

He also was preceded in death by a son: Jeffrey Green; and two grandsons: Richard K. Green and Daimion Mason.

A visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Zion Lutheran Church, 310 Central Ave., in Pevely. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the church with a dinner to follow in the church gymnasium. A celebration of life is scheduled for a later date.
