Burkard, Dollie

Dollie Ann Burkard, 66, of Pevely died July 20, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Medical Center in St. Louis. Ms. Burkard had worked as a custodian at the former St. Louis Arena and later the Checkerdome. In earlier years, she enjoyed roller skating and was an avid bowler. She also enjoyed time spent with her family playing cards and sharing her wisdom. In her later years, she developed a newfound love for taking Carnival cruises with her family. Born Aug. 28, 1957, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Regina (Stark) McMichael and Walter Penning. She was the stepdaughter of the late Albert McMichael.

She is survived by two daughters: Julie (Gary Bollinger) Oberkirsch-Sinclair of Climax Springs and Beth Oberkirsch of Pevely; two sisters: Murrel (Richard) Hopen of Pevely and Margaret “Peggy” (the late Marvin) Robbins of Millstadt, Ill.; a brother: James (Mary) Myers of Barnhart; and three grandchildren: Nicholas Barnard, Tristen Cole and Sara (Eric Deck) Dobbs; and a great-nephew that was raised as a grandson: Makari Brown.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Leland “Butch” (the late B.J.) Lewis; and her longtime companion: Charles Wagner.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home.
