Dennis E. Porter, 71, of De Soto died Jan. 2, 2026, at his home. Mr. Porter retired from Boeing Aircraft. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of First Baptist Church of De Soto. He was a black belt in Taekwondo and enjoyed science fiction. He also enjoyed woodworking and riding his motorcycle. Born Nov. 9, 1954, in St. Charles, he was the son of the late Julian and Helen (Farnham) Porter.
He is survived by his wife: Linda (Brandon) Porter of De Soto, whom he married on June 5, 2004, at First Baptist Church of De Soto; a son: Bryan (Angela) Porter of St. Charles; three siblings: Bruce (Claudia) Porter of Morrison, Colo., Barb Forck of Jefferson City and Regina Logan of Fulton; and two grandchildren: Nicholas Porter and Jackson Porter.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon Friday, Jan. 16, at First Baptist Church of De Soto, 2000 Grace Way, in De Soto, 63020. Memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, N.Y., 10306, or First Baptist Church of De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
