David Francis Mueller, 98, of De Soto died Sept. 30, 2023, at his home. Mr. Mueller owned and operated D. F. Mueller Construction. He served on the board of directors for the American Bank of De Soto and was a founding board member of Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Elks Lodge 689. He enjoyed playing golf and continued to play well into his nineties. Born April 30, 1925, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Louise (O’Farrell) and Howard C. Mueller. He was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth Jean “Betty” (Becker) Mueller.
He is survived by two daughters: Patty (Tom) Donnell of Nashville, Tenn., and Rebecca (Paul) Bradford of De Soto; a sister-in-law: Betty Mueller of De Soto; five grandchildren: David Bradford, Melissa (Mike) Klug, Sara Bradford, Ramsey (Sarah) Donnell and Laura (Dimitri) Donnell; and six great-grandchildren: Margot and Gabe Klug, Sadie and Greta Clark and Grady and Henry Donnell.
He also was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Mueller; a sister: Thelma (Ed) Lucas; four half sisters: Maude (Ozwald) Imhoff, Joann Hayes, Mary (Louis) Pouliezos and Ruby (William) Graff; six stepsisters: Pearl Norris, Thelma (Owen) Finney, Olive (Kirk) Perryman, Louise (John) O’Rourke, Gladys (Robert) McKay and Pearl (Lee) McCutcheon; and six stepbrothers: Frank (Jewel) Wilson, Charles (Corrine) Wilson, Everett (Adele) Wilson, Raymond (Juanita) Wilson, Lee (Juanita) Wilson and Tate Wilson.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial is in the Calvary Mausoleum in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Adopt-An-Angel or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
