Wright, Daniel

Daniel Wright, 80, of Mount Ida, Ark., died Jan. 8, 2025, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, Ark. Mr. Wright was a member of Lake Hamilton Assembly of God Church in Hot Springs, Ark., and retired from AT&T where he worked in telecommunications. He was a lifelong dog lover and, throughout the years, found joy in spending time with his boxers: Abby, Buster, Buddy, Sugar and Bella. Born May 29, 1944, in Crystal City, he was the youngest of nine children of the late Carrie Jane (Short) and William Sylvester Wright.

He is survived by his wife: Cheryl (Boyer) Wright, who has been by his side for more than 51 years; a son: Brett A. (Catherine) Wright; a granddaughter: Mollie Frances Ann Wright; a grandson: Logan Daniel Wright; two sisters: Christine White and Viola Jenkins; a brother: Harold Wright; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Barbara (Jones) Wright; three sisters: Geneva Knoll, Jeannie Weiss and Lylia DeClue; and two brothers: William Aubrey Wright and Virgil Wright.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Burial and a committal ceremony will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
