Dameon Alexander Pona, 27, of De Soto died July 19, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Pona loved spending time with his family and would often lend a helping hand or share a smile with others. He will be remembered for his love, compassion and sense of humor. Born June 28, 1999, in St. Louis, he was the son of Keith and Theresa Pona.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife: Faith (O’Brian) Pona; two sisters: Ayrehl (Ryan) Brooks and Kortnee (Austin) Keen; his nieces and nephews: Cayde, London, Roman and Ellie; his grandfather: Sam Pona; his in-laws: Tonya (Mike) Benton and David (Amanda) O’Brian; a brother-in-law: David (Destiny) O’Brian; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lyle and Sandy Barton and Virkay Boehm.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until a funeral service at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Rodger Fleming. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9 a.m. for interment at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lemay. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
