Cynthia R. Cherry, 64, of Crystal City died Nov. 10, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mrs. Cherry was the owner and operator of Cynthia R. Cherry CPA, LLC in Crystal City. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. She was also a member and the past president of Twin City Optimists, a member of the Missouri CPA Society and Twin City Chamber of Commerce and a board member and treasurer for the Crystal City School District. She enjoyed giving back to the community and helped people through her accounting talents. When she wasn’t working, visiting with friends or spoiling her grandchildren, she loved to travel and visited 45 states and 11 countries in her lifetime. Born Feb. 4, 1961, in Andalusia, Ala., she was the daughter of David (Sondra) Rawls of Proctor, Ark., and the late Gail (Bozeman) Apperson.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband: Hanley “Eugene” Cherry Jr.; a son: Hanley “Gene” (Barbara) Cherry III of Eureka; a daughter: Monique (Kevin) Costello of St. Louis; four grandchildren: David and Paul Cherry and Violet and Rosie Costello; two brothers: Andy (Anna) Rawls of Marion, Ark., and Ken (Jamie) Mitchell of Marion; three sisters: Kathy Grooms of Festus, Lisa Auten of Festus and Melissa (Jimmy) Canoy of Bloomfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Visitation will resume from 9 a.m. until funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City, 107 N. Truman Blvd., in Crystal City, officiated by Pastor Mitch Jackson. Interment will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City or the Twin City Optimists Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
