Cora “Maxine” Beck, 98, of Festus died Nov. 27, 2023, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Home in Festus. Mrs. Beck was a member of Our Lady Church in Festus and the Knights of Columbus 1230 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time at the casinos and going to church. Born Aug. 30, 1925, in Kewanee, she was the daughter of the late Anna Lee (Rickman) and Arthur Lindsey. She was preceded in death by her husband: James A. Beck.
She is survived by three sons: Dennis (Christy) Beck of Festus, Douglas Beck of Festus and Steven Beck of Collinsville, Ill.; five grandchildren: Melissa “Missy” Gegg, Michael Beck, Justin Beck, Tyler Beck and Lyndsay Beck; and seven great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by four siblings: Claiborne Lindsey, Eileen Kingen, Irene Ray and Betty Young.
Visitation is scheduled from 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Church, 1550 St. Marys Lane, in Festus, officiated by Fr. Steve Lian. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society of Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
