Hanes, Clarence

Clarence Hall Hanes, 77, of Hillsboro died Feb. 21,2 025, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. Mr. Hanes was a U.S. Army veteran and went on to work for the NCR and Rockwood School District as a bus driver and retired as a custodian. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and Ham Radio Association. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Blues, Cardinals and local high school sports, fishing, going to the casinos, bowling with his wife and, most of all, spending time with his family. Born Feb. 11, 1948, in New Concord, Ohio, he was the son of the late George and Merle (Lawrence) Hanes.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Ann Hanes.

He is survived by a son: Aaron Hanes of Cambridge, Ohio; three stepsons: David Blankenship of Festus, James Blankenship of Cambridge, Ohio, and Thomas Blankenship of Cambridge, Ohio; a daughter: Angie (Doug) Kashorek of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two stepdaughters: Terrie (Keith) Richey of Farmington and Kathy Parmely of Cambridge, Ohio; three sisters: Dorothy (John) Jennings of Zanesville, Ohio, Mary Hanes of Cambridge, Ohio, and Patty (Sam) Hardy of New Concord, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Inurnment will follow in the Peaceful Ridge Mausoleum in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Veteran's Home, 2400 Veterans Memorial Drive, Cape Girardeau, 63701. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
