Charles William Dennis, 92, of Festus died Feb. 23, 2024. Mr. Dennis was a graduate of Chaffee High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War and a former bricklayer with Local Union 1 in St. Louis. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in Crystal City, Amvets Post 48 in De Soto and attended the First Baptist Church in Festus. Born Jan. 21, 1932, in Chaffee, he was the son of the late Mary (White) and Aubrey C. Dennis.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Jane (Eldridge) Dennis whom he married on Oct. 6, 1951, in Piggot, Ark.
He is survived by a daughter: Kelly Cofield (Jeff Thacker) of Festus; two sons: Brad (Gail) Dennis of Desoto and Andy Dennis of Park Hills; a sister: Marilyn Dohogne of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a son: Douglas Allen Dennis; a son-in-law: Ray Cofield; a daughter-in-law: Roxanna Dennis; a brother: Robert Dennis; five brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services were held Feb. 29 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, officiated by the Rev. Bob Lewis. Burial with full military honors followed in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee. Arrangements were under the direction of Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel.
