Catherine “Dorothy” Beaven, 95, of Fenton died March 2, 2025. Mrs. Beaven began her career at Indiana Bell before marrying and then moving to the St. Louis area, where she cared for her home and raised her children. After later settling in Fenton, she found joy working at Camp Wyman in Eureka, an organization that helps teens in need. Known as a talented cook, she made many memories in her kitchen and shared her delicious recipes with her family. She was also known for her kindness and generosity towards others, helping whenever she could. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Paul’s Church. She once served as the treasurer for St. Paul’s Birthright and was a member of the St. Anne’s quilters. She loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed being a part of the Bentley Farms Lunch Club with her neighborhood friends. She will be remembered for her love, faith and devotion to her family. Born Feb. 7, 1930, in Evansville, Ind., she was the first of 11 children and the daughter of the late Joseph S. Rumage and Catherine (Dora) Kaelin Rumage.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years: Howard Beaven, whom she married on Feb. 3, 1951.
She is survived by seven children: Karen (Dennis) Fanning of New Baden, Ill., Mark (Kathy) Beaven of Eureka, Kim (Dan) Lichtenberger of Mexico, Mo., Matt (Jill) Beaven of Eureka, Patrick (Linda Soetebier) Beaven of Eureka, Julia (Todd) Hall of Old Monroe and Dan (Elaine) Beaven of Imperial; 17 grandchildren: Denny (Megan) Fanning, Tim (Carrie Rosales) Fanning, Brian (Tara) Sumner, Anna (Jeff) Trauth, Alex Beaven, Katy Beaven, Kyle Lichtenberger, Dana (Xavier) Lichtenberger, Nick Beaven, Emily (Dave) Callanan, Zach (Stephanie) Beaven, Stevie Beaven, Ryan (Courtney) Chernin, Casey (Zach) Zeris, Tyler Hall, Josh Beaven and Taylor Beaven; 12 great-grandchildren: Isla, Ellie, Lana, Kenny, Andrew, Alice, Eli, Harper, Olivia, Logan, Ashlyn and Rylee; four sisters: Geraldine Kempf, Jenny Grose, Barbara Heneisen and Delores Alber; a brother-in-law: John Alber; a sister-in-law: Judy Rumage; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers: Joseph (Bud) Rumage, Jim Rumage and John Rumage; three sisters: Irene Kaiser, Mary Rose Rumage and Paulette Anderson; seven brothers-in-law: Ron Anderson, Howard Heneisen, Tom Kempf, Paul Kaiser, Ken Grose, Bill Beaven and Dick Beaven; and five sisters-in-law: Norma Rumage, Regina Forler, Joyce Beaven, Bonnie Beaven and Geneva Beaven.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for noon Monday, March 24, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 15 Forest Knoll Drive, in Fenton. A luncheon will follow at Andre’s West, 211 S. Hwy. 141, in Fenton. Memorials may be made to the Wyman Center, 600 Kiwanis Drive, Eureka, 63025.
