Norton, Carol

Carol Sue Norton, 89, of Festus died Jan. 23, 2025. Mrs. Norton worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for State Farm Insurance Agency with her husband. She was also the second in command for Midwest Fire Protection Inc. She enjoyed painting, crocheting Afghan blankets, volunteering at local hospitals, helping raise her grandchildren and, most importantly, spending time with her friends and family. Born Jan. 28, 1935, in Clay County, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Harry Donald Wright and Sybil (McGee) Wright.

She was preceded in death by her husband: the Rev. Donald Jean "DJ" Norton.

She is survived by a son: Tom R. (Jan) Norton of Festus; a friend: David Nance of Festus; seven grandchildren: Levi Norton of Richmond Heights, Josh Norton of St. Clair, Ben (Kat) Norton of Maplewood, Jessica (Josh) Henning of Daphne, Ala., Jefferson Norton of St. Louis, Nathan (Annette Roderman) Norton of Valley Park and Gabriel Norton of Festus; nine great-grandsons: Matthew Norton of Maplewood, Thor Henning of Daphne, Ala., Casper Henning of Daphne, Ala., Ethan (Amanda) Norton of Pevely, Taylor Norton of Moore, Okla., Aspen Norton of Moore, Okla., Cosmo Norton of Moore, Okla., Austin Judd of Valley Park and Brady Roderman of Valley Park; seven great-granddaughters: Isimina Norton of Maplewood, Emily Henning of Daphne, Ala., Madeleine Henning of Daphne, Ala., Penelope Henning of Daphne, Ala., Kelsie (Bobby) Schwalbert of Hillsboro, Emma Jarvis of Valley Park and Ariana Roderman of Valley Park; five great-great-grandsons: Hunter Kellogg of Hillsboro, Waylon Schwalbert of Hillsboro, Timothy Norton of Pevely, Kendall Norton of Pevely and Alexzavier Norton of Festus; two great-great-granddaughters: Amanda Norton of De Soto and Kahleesi Norton of Moore, Okla.; and many other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by two sons: Roland J. Norton and Kendall J. Norton; a brother: Byron Wright; a sister: Myrna Frederiksen; and a great-grandson: Fox Henning.

Services will be private. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
